Coalition for More Housing Choices

Working to create more housing choices in the Puget Sound region

The Puget Sound region—King, Snohomish, Kitsap, and Pierce counties—is projected to add about 60,000 residents a year every year between now and 2050. Amidst this growth in population, the rising cost of living—especially increases in rent and home prices—is making it harder to imagine an affordable future here for our children and our grandchildren.

That’s why we need a clear plan for building enough housing so that everyone can purchase or rent a home that fits their lives. A plan for more housing must benefit current residents, support our commitment to environmental stewardship, promote equity, and provide affordable choices of all types of homes for a diverse and growing population.

We represent a broad spectrum of Puget Sound regional leaders, civic organizations, businesses, labor, and nonprofits. By adopting a collaborative approach to bring together organizations that, for the first time, are advocating for a shared and defined vision for housing, we can successfully remove barriers to more housing choices in our shared home. Together, we are advocating for a broadly supported plan for new housing, founded on meeting the needs of current residents and our growing population, environmental stewardship, and an affordable and sustainable future for generations to come.
